Two World Mission Society Church of God members playing Frisbee during Taylorsville Lake Family Cookout

Family Cookout at Taylorsville Lake State Park

In today’s busy world it can be difficult to take the time out to enjoy the company of loved ones. So to take a break from the stress of work and school, Church of God members in Louisville held a family cookout at Taylorsville Lake State Park. On a day that spring was in full bloom, everyone gathered to enjoy quality time together in the great outdoors.

Church members gathered together at the park to get out of the city and enjoy the outdoors. There were numerous stress-relieving outdoor activities to take part in: bike riding, fishing, hiking and even swimming. There were even games to spark a little friendly competition including frisbee, bean bag toss and volleyball.

And of course, it is not a cookout without the grill! Everyone enjoyed savory food cooked hot off the grill along with homemade dishes and treats to their hearts’ content. Preparing and eating delicious food together really brings the family together.

It felt as though everyone could stay at the lake enjoying each other’s company, all the tasty food, and the beautiful nature scenery for days. Sadly, though, it had to come to a close as the sun went down.

Community members who have visited the church or attended church functions tend to say things like, “It feels like family!” This is just one of many events that exemplify that characteristic of the Church of God. Though members come from many different backgrounds and cultures, our love for God makes us family.
