The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Visit

  • World Mission Society Church of God, WMSCOG, Brooklyn, Chateau Nursing Home, New York, NY, volunteers, residents, patients, seniors, music, dance

On a brisk February afternoon, members of the World Mission Society Church of God went to warm up the hearts of Brooklyn seniors. They went to The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn, NY to provide entertainment to the seniors who reside there.

Residents spent a fun-filled afternoon singing, clapping and dancing to music from various cultures. The performances began with a Hawaiian hula dance with the telling of a story of undying love. Afterwards, a men’s quartet sang an original doo-wop version of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me.” Then they brought everyone to the Dominican Republic with a colorful dance to the Dominican Merengue.

Later, the residents sang along to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and then Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.” After, everyone visited Cuba with the teenage volunteers and danced La Rumba to “Quimbara” by Celia Cruz. Lastly, as the finale, the members sang spiritual hymns called New Songs to the residents. The afternoon concluded with an encore performance of “Stand By Me” by the men’s quartet.

A grandmother of one of the church volunteers is also a resident at the center. Her grandson, Alejandro Roldan, was overjoyed to see his grandmother have a good time. “I am moved by the unity, love and fun we had today,” said Alejandro Roldan. “This is the only church that gives of themselves as true Christians.”

Lana, a nurse who cares for the seniors, said, “Out of everyone I’ve invited to come here, you guys were the best. I had a lot of fun.”

Volunteers were not only present at The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Sunday. Church of God members participated in a day of volunteer service up and down the whole East Coast. As a result, they are spreading the love of Heavenly Mother through their united efforts. Good Job, WMSCOG !!

Many people don’t respect seniors in our community.
even students don’t care about their teachers.

But, the Church of God has shown many great examples that we should follow in our society.

It’s really touching to see young people going out of their way for seniors. In college, it’s very easy to become self-centered so it’s refreshing to see the youth giving up their time for others. Keep it up Church of God, very proud of you!

It is truly an amazing blessing to be part of this spiritual family, who give of themselves, so selflessly. Through the unity of Father and Mother and with each other, we are truly able to be used as instruments, holy and acceptable, and shine the glory of God Elohim. The World Mission Society Church of God is awesome!

There is nothing better than love but the best would be there is nothing better than giving love. And that’s exactly what the WMSCOG did, giving love. I’m truely grateful to be a part of the WMSCOG and I thank Heavenly Mother everyday, every moment for teaching us the most purist and true love.
